Genesis 37:18-20
18 They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them they conspired against him to kill him. 19 They said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer. 20 Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.”

Because of jealousy and pride, when many people hear about someone receiving something from the Lord, they do more collaborating than celebrating. This is nothing new. As you can see by today’s scripture text, Joseph dealt with the same problem. When he shared his dream with his brothers, rather than being excited with him they took offense and were jealous of him. They saw it as Joseph being arrogant and rude rather than recognizing that what Joseph was shown could also have been a blessing to them as well. Because most people fail to want to put forth the effort that it takes to hear from God for themselves, they tend to get upset when those that do seek God receive something. A true heart for the Kingdom will rejoice when God moves or speaks…no matter who He moves or speaks to or through. When God promotes someone or gives them great revelation He doesn’t do it with the intent of leaving you behind or trying to make you jealous. He does so to honor of the faith of the one who He chose to use in that moment. When you truly understand the heart of God, you’ll be able to rejoice when He chooses to reveal Himself, regardless of how He does or who He chooses to do it through. You have the choice of celebrating the movement or collaborating with those to refuse to accept what God is doing. Had Joseph’s brothers truly seen what God was doing, they would have been grateful because God would eventually use Joseph to save their lives. Do you have a hard time accepting it when God reveals Himself to or through others? If so, ask Him to help you release any past hurts or insecurities that may be causing you to become offended. After all, God may have in mind to bless you through the very person you may be holding an offense against. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
