SCU Investigation Into Methamphetamine Sales Results in Four Arrests

Sulphur Spring Police Department arrested three individuals on Wednesday after a Special Crimes Unit investigation into the sale of methamphetamine.

SCU began an investigation into 33 year old Elzie Antwain Sneed for the possession and distribution of methamphetamine. SCU purchased large amounts of methamphetamine from Sneed on several occasions, according to arrest records.

SCU began surveillance on a known address for Sneed and observed him driving away from the address at approximately 5:30 pm. A traffic stop was initiated and the officers observed MDMA in plain sight within the vehicle.

The substance tested positive for MDMA with the use of a field kit. Sneed and the other vehicle occupants; 26 year old Melanie Mercedes Edwards, 21 year old Taylor Nicole Boyett and 17 year old Valerie Nicole Covington, were taken into custody.

Boyett and Covington are charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone.

Sneed is charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone and is also charged on three warrants for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
