Funeral service for Duane “Pop” Skeen, age 80, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2020, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie Powers officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Bluff with Danny Ray McPherson, Bobby Lee Gross, Tony McPherson, Timmothy Moody, James Dalton, and Billy Martel serving as pallbearers and Dustin Adair, Ronald Sims, Donald Sims, Shawn Sims, and Phil Knox serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Duane went to be with the Lord Monday, July 1, 2020, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs.

Duane “Pop” Skeen was born on February 8, 1940 in Sulphur Bluff, TX to Barney and Alma Skeen. He married Dorthy Parker Skeen on July 2, 1982, in Idabel, OK. He was employed by RR&G Construction as a carpenter for more than 15 years and was a member of the Crimson River Church in Cooper, TX. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Skeen of Cooper, TX; sons, Dale Skeen of Clarksville, Steve Skeen of Cooper, TX, and Russell Skeen of Sulphur Springs, TX; daughter, Virginia Sanders of Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; sisters, Edna Hoover and Dorethia Hall; brother, T.C. Skeen and David Skeen.

Duane “Pop” Skeen was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cyble, Lois Wilson, and Loretta Skeen; brothers, Marlin Skeen, Wendell Skeen, and Bill Skeen; 2 grandchildren.
