Acts 9:13-16
13 But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem. 14 And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.17 So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

Everyday faith has an eternal impact. Ananias was not known as an anointed speaker or miracle worker. In fact this is the only time he is mentioned in the Bible. But, if you’ll stop and consider the impact that this ordinary man’s everyday faith is still having on the Kingdom of Heaven you will see the massive difference that simple obedience can make. Saul, soon to be Paul, the writer of 2/3’s of the New Testament, had just had an encounter with Jesus that put him in a place where He was vulnerable to the love of God. Knowing Saul’s history of violence toward Christians, Ananias had to love and trust God enough to go and minister to Saul even though every ounce of his common sense would say to run the other way. That faith and obedience changed the history of the church forever. Any and every Gentile, or non-Jewish person, should be forever grateful to Ananias. His obedience brought about a heart change that would bring the Gospel all over the known world…and beyond. As the Lord brings you opportunity to step out and show His goodness to others keep in mind that your obedience, one way or the other, could have eternal ramifications in the lives of countless people. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
