15 year old Sam Kopal was reportedly driving a side-by-side ATV when it rolled over onto him. He was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the accident but was unresponsive after the accident. An adult with the group of teenagers attempted CPR until EMS could arrive on the scene.

Sam was a member of the SSHS Wildcats Basketball and Baseball programs. He is survived by his parents Chad and Cristie Kopal and his sister Chloe.

Pastor Joel Tiemeyer from The Way Bible Church, where Chad Kopal serves as Worship Leader, said in a statement, “Please keep the family in your prayers during this time. We will keep you updated on all arrangements as they are made. Thank you for understanding and giving Chad, Cristie and Chloe time to process and grieve as a family. Your love, prayers and support are appreciated and cherished by the Kopal family during this time.”
