On February 22, 2020, one of the brightest lights in Hopkins County passed from this life into her heavenly home.

Jackie Sapaugh was born in Sulphur Springs, TX on May 9, 1933 the daughter of T.T. (Cowboy) Sapaugh and Jesse Clyde Kennedy Sapaugh.

After marrying Joe Mac McGlamery on January 15, 1958 she made her home in Pickton, TX for most of her adult life becoming an active part of the community and her church.

She was an inspiration to all she met. She rarely had a bad day and somehow always accepted the challenges of this life with a smile and a faith like no other.   Though her stature was small, she proved over and over her resolve, toughness, and strength.  Death didn’t stop her light from shining as she stands in heaven today serving the Lord brighter than ever.

Her life on earth was filled with serving others through her 40+ year career as a teller at Sulphur Springs State Bank (Alliance)and chances are she has cashed your check, given you a sucker, or made you chuckle at least once in your life. She also dedicated herself to decades of service as the song leader and choir director at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pickton, TX. Her life fulfilled the highest call of any person; she loved God and she loved others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Wendell Sapaugh, her in-laws Warner and Eunice McGlamery, her brother in law Jerry Tom (J.T.) McGlamery, and a sister in law Betty McGlamery Hatfield.

She is survived by her sister in laws Helen Sapaugh and Bonnie McGlamery Moore (who both sacrificially assisted Jackie in her later years).  She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and made each feel special in her own way.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday February 26, 2020 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Pickton. TX with Pastor Mike Haun and Bro Tommy Neal officiating.   Visitation will be held the hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Old Pickton Cemetery in Pickton, TX.

Pallbearers will be Chris McGlamery, Craig Hatfield, Michael Hatfield, Don Sapaugh, Tommy Neal and Weldon Watkins.   Honorary pallbearers will be Julie Sapaugh, Tammy McGlamery Wallis, Tracy and Brenda Coker, Phylllis Watkins, Gene and Elizabeth Troutz, Mike Briggs, Linda Neal, Billy and Patsy Powell, Sue and Rick Russell

A special thanks to all of her caregivers at Hopkins House where she resided the past 16 years as well as a special thanks to Heritage Hospice and Rock Creek Health and Rehab for taking care of her during her last days this side of heaven. And a special thanks to all those friends that made sure she always had a ride to church (and bingo).

In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations can be made to the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Pickton, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
