Genesis 13:14
The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward.”

In most cases, when the Lord speaks to you like in today’s scripture verse, He is trying to make sure you’re focussed in the right direction. Notice what He told Abraham. He said, “Lift up your eyes.” One of the greatest challenges any believer will face is keeping their focus on the Lord in the midst of all of the distractions that life can bring. Abram was in one of those difficult family situations with his nephew, Lot. Things had gotten to a point to where they had to go their separate ways. As trying and as heartbreaking as this had to have been, the Lord knew that the worst thing that Abram could do at that time would be to take his focus off of the One who could lead him into a place of healing and victory. No one is immune to the difficulties that life can bring, but at the same time, everyone has the ability to stay in tune with the One who can carry them through those difficulties. No matter what you’re going through, or how bad it may or may not seem, the key to successfully navigating through those times is the same. You must ‘Lift up your eyes’. Refuse to allow the trials and struggles to pull your focus off of the Lord. If your marriage is on the rocks…Lift up your eyes. If your kids are too much for you to handle…Lift up your eyes. If you job is sucking the life and joy out of you…Lift up your eyes. Make it a point to give Him the time and attention that you’ve been giving your problems.
