2 Corinthians 2:11
So that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.
Despite what most people may think, the devil is not on an equal playing field with God. There is an unhealthy fear of the Church’s defeated foe that has plagued unbelievers for centuries. So much so, that people actually believe that he can read their minds and can control their thoughts and actions. The truth of the matter is that he can do nothing in or through you without your consent. What has actually occurred is a severe lack of self control and accountability. Rather than take responsibility for their own actions people are quick to throw out the age old excuse of ‘The devil made me do it’. It’s safe to assume that 95% of people’s issues come from poor decision making. Consider this perspective. If God Himself cannot violate your will then how can the devil? God put the enemy in his place when He resurrected Jesus from the dead. From that moment on, the devil has simply been deceiving believers into thinking he’s more powerful than what he is. The reason why many people fail to see victory over the issues they deal with is because they’re blaming the devil instead of holding the real culprit responsible…who is themselves. Stop for a moment and take a look at the most pressing issue you’re facing and then ask yourself the humbling question, “Is it the devil or is it dumb.” It’s not always fun to undergo a self-examination but when you know what, or who, the problem is you can direct your time and energy into overcoming it. Stop blaming the enemy for the dumb things that you may have done and start allowing the Holy Spirit to give you the wisdom and power to make better choices that will lead you into a better place in life. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
