This school year Sulphur Springs ISD welcomed a new student support organization, Communities In Schools, to the high school, middle, elementary, and alternative campuses.  Communities In Schools (CIS) is a national nonprofit organization with a local Northeast Texas affiliate based out of Northeast Texas Community College in Mount Pleasant.

Through a school-based coordinator, the organization provides support for students and families by connecting personally with students and bringing community resources into the school to empower success for all students.  Services provided to students could include college and career readiness, agency referrals, one-on-one mentoring or more, all with the goal of helping students succeed in school. All students can benefit from services, but support from parents is needed by signing a release form.  For more information about this program, check out our Facebook page at Communities In Schools-Sulphur Springs or contact Melody Henry at (903) 434-8212.
