Joyce and William Dodd had the opportunity to keep their new great-grandson, Kanyen, last week, while his mom started back to school and his dad was back at work. Their grandson Matthew was there with them, too. Joyce reports, “I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!”

Joyce adds, “We have some very faithful people in our community, and some whose hearts are in our community even though they live in other places, who generously give to the support of our little pantry. We owe them our appreciation for their kind and giving hearts. They are a blessing to many and we truly appreciate them. May God bless them for their heartfelt gifts.” I think we all would echo Joyce’s sentiments.

Robert, Yvonne, and Wesley Weir flew to Cancun on January 1st with their son Dustin, and his wife and daughter, Natalie and Everly, and then they took the ferry to Isla Mujeres, where they stayed until the 8th. They left the island to go see Mayan ruins and go to a water park. Yvonne comments, “We spent lots of time basking in the sun, listening to the ocean and admiring the beautiful water. Everly was lots of fun. We had some adventures with our golf cart.” On January 14th, Yvonne had a total knee replacement in Rowlett. She was home 25 hours later. Her daughters, Destri and Dacy, came and helped and Regina Taylor and Brenda Allen visited. Her Pastor Aubrey Overturf and wife Jeanette came by Saturday.

Chip and I went to Malvern, Arkansas on Saturday and picked up Tiffany and Jaidyn to go out for lunch and then to Jaidyn’s basketball games in Hot Springs. Malcolm and his friend, Melinda, were there, too, and Jaidyn spent the rest of the afternoon with them.

On Sunday, we honored Chip’s mother, Grace Vaughn, at our house for her 99th birthday, which was on Saturday. Joining us for lunch were Linda Ellen Vaughn and Landon, Rylan, Brailon, and Slaiden Joslin. We missed Laiken and Emma, who had another commitments, and Kenden who had to work. Grace, also, celebrated with family at Tim and Lori Vaughn’s home on Saturday evening.

Our great-grandsons Rylan, Brailon, and Slaiden spent Sunday night with us and stayed with Chip on Monday, while Landon, Laiken, and I were at work.

I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community. If you have any news pertaining to Tira residents, past or present, please contact me, Jan Vaughn, at 903-438-6688 or janvaughn73@gmail.com.
