Luke 9:23
And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

The Word of God is contains promise after promise of the good things that the Father God has in store for those who are in Him. According to Psalm 84:11, there is no good thing that He withholds from those who walk uprightly. This often brings up the question of why do so many believers deal with many the same problems that non-believers do. Today’s text sheds some light on that question. It was not by chance that Jesus said that those who would follow Him must ‘daily’ take up their cross. In other words, it is your choice whether or not you remain in Him and therefore receive the good things that come with such a relationship. For many who profess to follow Him, it’s with the idea of remaining in Him for the good things He has but when it comes to denying themselves and being fully obedient it’s a different story altogether. To deny yourself means that you completely deny any and all ownership or control that you have when it comes to your life. This means that your agenda, plans, and pursuits are now under His control and authority. The church cannot expect to be a dominant force for the Lord in the Earth when she is only submitted to the Lord when it benefits her wants and desires. Half-hearted Christianity is really not Christianity at all. You owe it to the Lord, and yourself as well, to submit your life to Him daily and allow Him to have complete ownership of all that you are. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
