Funeral service for Shirley Glossup, age 82, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Steve Cook officiating and Jerry Putnam and Lou Jane Drummond assisting.  Interment will follow at North Hopkins Cemetery with Danny Ragsdale, Brent Glenn, Dustin Ragsdale, Ryan Glenn, Colton Glenn, Garon Burgin, Steve Drummond and Jace Lane serving as pallbearers and Wesleyan Class of Wesley United Methodist serving as honorary pallbearers.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel.  Mrs. Glossup passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital, Sulphur Springs.

Shirley was born on January 8, 1937 in Birthright, Texas to Lester Lee and Rosa Lee Goldsmith Jones.  She graduated from North Hopkins High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1954.  She married Jerry Glossup on June 11, 1955 in Birthright.  She worked at Jack and Jill Kindergarten and then as bookkeeper at Southern Auto Supply.  She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church for 61 years.  She sang in the Chancel Choir for 20 years.  She served as financial secretary for 30 years and was the piano player for the Wesleyan Sunday School Class.  She visited the homebound and nursing homes for 25 years.  She became close friends with all those people.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Glossup; daughters, Deana Ragsdale and husband, Danny of Sulphur Bluff, Diane Glenn and husband Brent of Yantis; grandchildren, Dustin and Kaydi Ragsdale, Ryan and Catie Glenn, Garon and Dayla Burgin, Colton and MacKenzie Glenn.  She is also survived by great-grandchildren Hagen Ragsdale, Landon & Mattie Burgin, Tripp, Dallie, and Hattie Glenn, and Macie Glenn.She is also survived by a very special great niece Kara Lane and great-great niece Kenna Lane

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Nell Drummond and Mary Louise Jones.

Memorials may be made to made to Wesley United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
