Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
A mindset that many Christians find themselves falling into is allowing a trying or tragic time in their lives to define their entire life. Look at it like this. If you read a book or watched a movie, you would not let one chapter or scene be the basis for your judgement of the entire work. Unfortunately that’s how the human mind works many times. It likes to focus on the traumatic, the unpleasant, the failures and shortcomings that you’ve walked through. Even though you may have come out victoriously, with the help of the enemy, your mind will tell you that those trials make you less than qualified for any future good work that God may have in store for you. This is why renewing your mind with the Word of God is so vital to your spiritual health. You cannot confuse your story with whatever scene the movie of your life may currently be in. The greatest thing about scene that you are in is that you can talk to the Author of your story. Time spent with Him in the Word and prayer will shift your focus from your current situation or circumstances to your life’s entire story and purpose. Don’t allow your mind or the enemy to keep you in bondage to your past or even present circumstances. Let the One who’s writing your story be who determines the outcome. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
