Maxine Wetzel Holder Gammill went to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th, 2019, at the age of 91.  With her daughter, Kathy, by her side, she passed peacefully at home in Highlands, TX.  She courageously battled cancer and complications for several years.

She was born October 24th, 1928, to Wesley and Charlene Wetzel.  Following the death of her father, Maxine was raised in Winnsboro, TX, by her mother and step-father, Burley Harris, with siblings Vonceil Quattlebaum and Nathan Wetzel.

Maxine married Billy G. Holder in Pickton, TX in 1945.  They moved to Port Neches, TX, where they lived for many years before retiring in Winnsboro.  Following the death of Billy Holder, she married Bill Gammill.  Maxine loved to play the piano, work in the yard, and paint.

Survived by her daughter, Kathy Zeglin; three grandchildren John (Kelli) Bailey, Jason (Sveta) Bailey, and Bridgette (Cory) Gilbert; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Dianne Sansom; best friends, Reba Nichols and NoniaMcfarlin; and her beloved dog, Pepper.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wesley Wetzel; step father, Burley Harris; mother, Charlene Harris; husband, Billy Holder; brother, Nathan Wetzel, husband, Bill Gammill; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Scott;  granddaughter, Natalie Boisvert; and sister, Vonceil Quattlebaum.

The family will have a memorial service to honor Maxine’s life at First Baptist Church on Dec. 14th in Sulphur Springs, TX and she will be buried at Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro, TX.
