Funeral services for Jim Franklin Lawson, age 54, of Quitman, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shawn Deterding officiating. Interment will follow at Peerless Cemetery with Erick McFarland, Shannon White, Jeremy Ratliff, John Morrow, Craig Schultz, and Tim Causey serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at West Oaks Funeral Home. Jim passed away on November 3, 2019 at UT Health in Tyler, TX.

He was born on May 3, 1965 in Cooper, TX.He worked as a truck driver for many years and was of the Baptist Faith. He married Melinda Lawson on January 3, 2000 in Sulphur Springs. She survives. Jim enjoyed going fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He loved and lived his life to the fullest. He was known for his love of people, his ready smile, and his practical jokes. In addition to his wife, Melinda, he is also survived by his parents, Billy and Betty Lawson of Sulphur Springs, sons, Bruce Slaton of Murfreesboro, AR, Jim Slaton of Murfreesboro, AR, Chad Slaton of Columbus, OH, Erick McFarland of Quitman, daughter, Brittney Ratliff of Quitman, grandchildren, Dylan, Gunner, Jaxon, and Rylee, brothers, Danny Lawson, Wayne Lawson, Billy Gene Lawson, and John Swann, all of Sulphur Springs, and sister, Jennifer Pryor of Sulphur Springs.
