Daily Devotional from The Way Bible Church for October 28th, 2019

Have you ever found yourself thinking, “If I could just have ‘that one thing’, then I would be happy.”? Maybe your desire is to be married and have a family, or you have goals to lose weight and get fit. Maybe all you want is that piece of chocolate cake in order to be satisfied! Whatever it is, we all find ourselves chasing after things in life hoping to find some kind of fulfillment.

But what happens when you actually get what you’re craving? Most likely, it’s only a matter of time before you are feeling empty once again and longing for something new. Perhaps you even feel more empty than you did before. Friend, I have good news for you: Jesus can fulfill your deepest desires! In the verse above, it says that EVERYTHING finds completion in Him. That means you too! I believe that when you are craving something so terribly, no matter what the craving may be, it is actually your spirit crying out for more of Jesus. However, the enemy knows your weaknesses, and how to tempt you with worldly things that can never satisfy.

I want to challenge you to do something. The next time you find yourself longing for “that one thing”, turn to Jesus. You may find after spending time with Him, that your cravings gradually diminish or even go away completely! The Bible tells us to “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these THINGS will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33). Don’t be fooled into thinking you can only be satisfied by the things of this world. Make Jesus the utmost desire of your heart and He will show you that He has already made you whole and complete!
