John 5:7
6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” 7The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”

Shortcomings. Everyone has them. Unfortunately most people will never overcome the shortcomings in their lives because they insist on placing responsibility for them. The man in today’s text was doing just that. He was an invalid, incapable of doing for himself what many others could do on their own. The fault didn’t lie in the man’s disability, the fault lied in the fact that He blamed others for not carrying him to the water. He couldn’t even answer the question Jesus had asked. Jesus asked if he wanted to be healed and the man’s response was to immediately place blame and make excuses for his situation. You may or may not be responsible for the situation you’re currently in but you are responsible for getting out of it. Bad things will happen, but whether or not you come out of those things is up to you. You can allow your Savior to intervene and bring you quick healing or you can wallow in the mess and be a victim. If you’re hurting or broken today, Jesus is holding out His hand. All you have to do is take hold if it and and get up. If the blame game could have healed you it would have several times over by now. Let the Healer have His way in your life and start moving forward into the life He has for you. – Love and Blessings.
