Funeral services for Ethel Mae Johnson, age 72, will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00AM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Cory Young officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Clayton, Tyrone Clayton, Laurance Green, Ashton Pruitt, Vincent Johnson and Harry Johnson. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30AM at Tapp Funeral Home.  Ms. Johnson passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at her residence in Dallas.

Ethel Mae Johnson was born on May 30, 1947, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Robert Johnson and Geneva Bolden Johnson.  She worked as a cook for Burton’s and Pit Grill and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include: daughters: Debbie (Lagary) Dixson of Dallas and Carla Nweke (Jimmy Davis) of Sulphur Springs; son: Kevin Johnson of Sulphur Springs; special ex-daughter-in-law: Michelle Johnson of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: Richard Finnie, Robert Finnie, Chaddrick Johnson, Jacobyia Johnson, Brianna Johnson, Terrance Johnson, Kyron Johnson, Kevin Tyrone Johnson, Jr. and Christine Cormier; 21 great grandchildren including a special great grandchild, Jakyla (Piglet) Cobbs of Dallas; brothers: Harry Johnson of Commerce, Texas and Ronny Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; sisters: Vernon Reece and Florence Williams of San Bernardino, California, Jeri Finley of Phoenix, Arizona, Sheila Hall of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Naomi Johnson of Commerce, Texas; special friends: Diane Price and Ivy Jo Crook; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Geneva Johnson; brothers: R.L. Johnson and James Edward Johnson; sister: Mae Jewel Dial.
