Sylvia Mann Kibart passed away on June 8, 2019. She was born December 6, 1936 in Colón, Republic of Panama and lived there with her parents and two sisters until 1954 when they moved to Sulphur Springs, TX.

She graduated from Texas A&M Commerce with a master’s degree in languages. Once she received her teaching certificate, she taught public school for two years in Hobbs, NM and Bagota, TX before becoming a tenured professor at Texas A&M Commerce teaching French and English. She enjoyed teaching foreign exchange students English as a second language.

She found a love of literature at an early age from her parents. You would be surprised to ever find her without a book in her hand. She loved the Lord and read her bible daily. The journals she kept will be cherished by family as an insight and remembrance into a beautiful life!

She loved operas and would attend and listen to them with great pride.

Animals were drawn to her as an untold number of animals found their way to her doorstep. She cared for and loved dearly everyone as if they were the only one around.

Her love of reading, music, and animals was contagious. Not a soul who met her was immune to learning and gaining an appreciation not only for her but for her passions as well.

Everyone who met her became her close friend. She always had time for and paid close attention to each person individually.

She truly will be missed beyond belief. She touched many people deeply and will be loved always.

In heaven she will be surrounded by loved ones that went before her as well as a large crowd of animals.

She is survived by sisters: Rita Adams and Elaine Ashby. Nephews: Ronald and wife Cindy Ashby, Michael and wife Tammy Ashby, Keith and Terry Adams. Nieces: Jean and Ron Webb, Karen and Allen Reed.

A private burial will be held at a later date.

“I have nothing to fear, and here my story ends. My troubles are all over and I am at home.” – Black Beauty
