John 12:40
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.”

For believers and non-believers alike, walking in freedom can be difficult to achieve. This is not to say that it’s difficult for the Lord to free or heal them but it’s often hard to make them realize that they’re captive to something in the first place. In a hostage situation, this is known as Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome is a condition which causes hostages to develop a psychological alliance with their captors as a survival strategy during captivity. These alliances result from a bond formed between captor and captives during intimate time together. In these cases the hostages even go so far as to defend their captors in court. This is where many people find themselves spiritually. The traps and conditions that they find themselves in have become so familiar to them that they consider those things to be a part of who they are. Insecurity, anger issues, phobias, etc., all have been accepted as character traits as opposed to what they really are which is bondage. Look at it like this, if it’s not something that you’ll expect to be dealing with in Heaven someday then you shouldn’t be dealing with it now. If you are just looking to survive in this life you will fall in love with the captivity that is holding you back. Your freedom is vital to your ministry so it is important to the Kingdom that you are walking in as as much of it as possible at all times. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you see anything that you may have been blinded to up until now. A life of absolute freedom is your’s for the taking. – Love and Blessings, Pastor Jeff
