Funeral services for Russell Dale Askew, age 52, of Commerce will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Harold B. Nash, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at East Caney Cemetery with Larry Dent, Gilbert Roland, Keith Spivey, Jerric Berry, Lester Dial, Tony Reed and Craig Hale serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Martin, Lamont Harrison, Jared Harrison, Rory Battise, Derrick Dial, Vincent Sims, Bryant Jackson, Darrell Martin, Chris Parker, Stelvin Dial and Ray Parker II. There will be no formal visitation. Russell passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Hunt County Reginal Hospital. Russell was born on April 10, 1967 in Sulphur Springs the son of Willie E. Martin and Bernadine Askew. He married the love of his life, Nicole Harrison on December 13, 2014 in Sulphur Springs and she survives. Russell worked for Solvay in Greenville and was of the Baptist faith. He was a 1985 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and played basket ball at Paul Quinn College. In addition to his wife Nicole he is survived by his children, Demarcus Harrison of Campbell, Andre Wilson of Commerce, and Raven Wilson and fiance Ryan of Commerce, brothers, Lamont Harrison, Gary Martin and wife Bridgette all of Commerce, Vincent Sims and wife Felicia of Sulphur Springs, sisters, Lavonda Davison and husband Timothy of DeSoto, Glenys Wright of Addison, Gail Martin of Garland and Genna Dent and husband Larry of Balch Springs, grandchildren, Keyonah, Kamariah, James, Keriah and Melia, step-mother, Emma Martin of Grand Prairie, aunt, Amye Smith and Uncle Henry Askew, father and mother-in-law Ray and Linda Parker, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
