The Tira City Council will meet on Monday, March 11th, at 6:00 p.m. at the Tira Community Center. The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend.

Kim Beck reports that she and Lee “traveled to Austin last week to meet with our local representatives for Hopkins County Day! The group included Mayor John Sellers, Sheriff Lewis Tatum, Hopkins County Chamber President Lezley Brown, Fire Chief Andy Endsley, Judge Robert Newsom, some of our Commissioners and members of the Chamber Executive Board. We had several meetings and a reception to meet other groups in the Northeast Texas Regional Alliance. We had a great trip with beautiful weather!”

Yvonne Weir shared, “Destri, Eben, and Nicolaas arrived late Friday night. Destri is spending the week in San Diego for her company convention, so we get to keep Nico. He is so much fun! Destri and Eben left on Saturday afternoon. Sarah and Lucas arrived on Sunday afternoon, so Lucas could play with Nico.” She adds, “Not much news here. Too cold to do anything.”

Joyce Dodd reported that the “food pantry angels” showed up again. She and Georgia Smith filled the pantry and stocked the storage shelves. We are always thankful for the contributions and I want to express my appreciation to Joyce, Georgia, and everyone who takes care of filling the pantry.

I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community. If you have any news pertaining to Tira residents, past or present, please contact me, Jan Vaughn, at 903-945-2190 or 903-438-6688 or janvaughn73@gmail.com.
