Two El Paso men and an El Paso woman were arrested on Saturday after DPS Officers discovered over 4 kilograms of heroin in their vehicle. Indicators of nervousness and criminal activity were observed during the traffic stop on I-30. During the consent search of the vehicle, the battery was found to have an aftermarket compartment containing 4 black tape and cellophane wrapped bundles of suspected heroin. The weight of the bundles was found to be 4.45 kilograms.

22 year old Matthew Banda, 19 year old Caleb Evan Ashley, and 20 year old Breanna Marie Aguirre were taken into custody and charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1 in an amount over 400 grams. They are currently being held in Hopkins County Jail with Banda and Aguirre on $100,000 bond each. Ashley’s bond was set at $1,000,000.

The estimated street value of one kilo of heroin is between $80,000 and $85,000.
